A.C. Poynter
Class of 1982, Retired teacher/coach and volunteer driver for Victory in the Valley
Q: What originally brought you to Butler Community College?
I was recruited to play football by Steve Braet, Dale Remsberg, and Fayne Henson.
Q: Is there a faculty member, mentor, class, or experience at Butler that had a lasting impact on you?
Where do I start? I met the football staff first, top-notch and very enthusiastic. Then Everett Kohls; he set up my academics. I had several favorite teachers: Darrell Erickson, Bill Bidwell, Roland Ensz, Betty Prohodsky, Phil Theis, and Felix Adams. Other staff who were awesome: Jean Plaummer, Ethel Dunsmoor, Nancy Collins, Curt Shipley. Did I mention that we were the first Football National Champions at Butler in 1981?
Q: What are you doing today, and how did your time at Butler help shape your path?
Butler started me on my way to becoming a teacher and coach for 38 years. I learned how to be a team player on and off the field. I learned how to build friendships with others from different backgrounds.
Q: What does being a Butler alum mean to you?
Being a Butler alum gives me great pride. I have always loved El Dorado and the people who make Butler one of the best schools in Kansas
