Q: What originally brought you to Butler Community College?
A: I chose Butler because it offered a journalism program, and I was also fortunate to receive a magazine scholarship.
Q: Is there a faculty member, mentor, class, or experience at Butler that had a lasting impact on you?
A: Faculty members John Jenkinson and Mike Swan were incredibly supportive of my writing and goals. Being a part of the Grizzly magazine team and serving as editor helped me develop my writing, communication, and leadership skills.
Q: What are you doing today, and how did your time at Butler help shape your path?
A: I’m a market manager for Crossland Construction, and I’ve spent the past 10 years working in communications and marketing. Butler gave me a strong foundation in writing, storytelling, and communication that I continue to use every day. Butler also made transferring to the University of Kansas an easy next step, where I received my bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Q: What does being a Butler alum mean to you?
A: Butler gave me an affordable opportunity to pursue my passion and was the launching pad for my education and career. I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships I made and the faculty members who invested in me. I’m proud to be a Butler alum.
