Q: What originally brought you to Butler Community College?
A: A chance to play volleyball and pursue a degree.
Q: Is there a faculty member, mentor, class, or experience at Butler that had a lasting impact on you?
A: Stephano Anthemides, assistant volleyball coach. He instilled a sense of confidence that I believe heavily impacted my trajectory post-Butler. He unfortunately passed away in 2017, but was an amazing mentor to myself and many other student athletes.
Q: What are you doing today, and how did your time at Butler help shape your path?
A: I am currently enjoying life in Ft. Worth, Texas, with my husband Craig (who is also a Butler alumnus) and daughter Wren, with another girlie on the way in October. I work as an academic advisor at Texas Wesleyan University. My life without Butler is a little hard to imagine. It is the place where I connected with some of my dearest friends, met my husband, and facilitated the opportunities as a transfer student at K-State that likely wouldn't have otherwise happened. Also, having been a professional in higher education the past 10+ years, I draw on my experiences as a Butler student regularly. It's also worth mentioning that my time as a Butler student inspired my return as an employee from 2017- 2019, which is a time for which I'm forever grateful.
Q: What does being a Butler alum mean to you?
A: Being a Butler alum to me means being a part of the community (whether you are from the area or not), practicality for pursuing a degree, opportunity, and just makes sense.
